How are these answers written?

The way we’d answer you at the studio. The first line answers the question; the rest explains why. Where the honest answer is “it depends”, we tell you what it depends on.

A few things hold across every answer:

  • Prices: we don’t list our own prices here, because they depend on your car, the grade and the prep it needs. Our PPF price guide and ceramic coating price guide show typical Pune market ranges. For your car, message us the model and we’ll quote.
  • Warranties: film and coating warranties come from the manufacturer and depend on the grade. Our warranty and aftercare page explains how they work.
  • Timings: job times are typical ranges. We confirm the exact time when you book.
  • The rules: where the law matters, as with LED headlights and modifications, we tell you upfront what’s road-legal.

Paint protection film

How much does PPF cost in Pune?

It depends on four things: the film grade, your car's size and panel shapes, how much of the car you cover, and whether the paint needs correcting first. A front kit costs far less than full body. Our PPF price guide lists typical Pune market ranges. For your own car, send us the model on WhatsApp and we'll quote. Asking in Marathi is fine too: PPF kiti kharch yeto?

Is PPF worth it on a new car in Pune?

It is if you drive the Expressway or highways often, have a dark-coloured car, park on the street, or plan to keep the car for years. Stone chips, scuffs from two-wheelers and bird-dropping stains hit the film instead of the paint, and original factory paint is worth more at resale than a repaint. If you mostly do short city runs, a front kit plus a coating is often enough.

Front-only or full-body PPF: which do I need?

Front-only suits most highway drivers on a budget, because the bumper, bonnet, front fenders and mirrors take most of the stone chips. Full body suits dark colours, new SUVs, a matte look, or a car you'll keep for many years. Many owners start with the front and add door edges, handle cups and the top of the rear bumper, where rings, keys and luggage leave marks.

Garware, XPEL or STEK: which PPF brand should I choose?

Choose on grade and warranty terms rather than the logo. All three sell thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) films with self-healing top coats, at several price points. Compare thickness, what the warranty covers (cracking, yellowing or both), how long it runs, whether it transfers to the next owner, and what maintenance it needs. We work with Garware films and can show you how its grades differ.

What's the difference between Garware Plus and Garware Premium PPF?

Premium is thicker and carries a longer warranty. Garware's April 2026 data sheets give a nominal thickness of 160 microns for Plus and 190 for Premium, counting film, adhesive and top coat. Its e-warranty cards give Plus 5 years, headlined against cracking, and Premium 8 years against cracking and yellowing. Both are non-transferable and need maintenance every six months. Premium suits a car you'll keep long-term; Plus suits a tighter budget.

Will PPF turn yellow, and what does the warranty cover?

Modern TPU films are built to resist yellowing, and higher grades are warranted against it. The warranty comes from the film maker, and it covers defects such as cracking or yellowing with replacement film. Labour, impact damage, accidents and poor care aren't covered, and Garware's warranty also needs maintenance every six months. Our warranty and aftercare page explains the terms in full.

Gloss or matte PPF: will matte change my car's colour?

No, the colour stays the same; only the sheen changes. Gloss film keeps the factory shine. Matte film turns gloss paint satin without a repaint, and the original gloss is back when the film comes off. Matte film needs a little more care: no wax or polish, and bird droppings removed quickly, because a matte surface can't be polished back like gloss.

Does PPF really self-heal scratches?

Light ones, yes. Fine swirls in the film's top coat level out with warmth from a sunny day or warm water. A scratch that cuts through the top coat into the film won't heal, and neither will a stone that tears it. When that happens, the damaged panel of film can be replaced without touching the paint underneath.

How long does PPF take, and when can I wash the car?

A front kit typically takes 1–2 days and full-body PPF 3–5 working days, including time for the film to settle. We confirm the exact time when you book. Garware's warranty cards rule out washing for the first 48 hours, while the adhesive cures. After that, hand wash with a pH-neutral shampoo and keep pressure-washer jets away from the film edges.

Can PPF be removed without damaging the paint?

Yes, on factory paint. Warmed and peeled slowly, quality film comes off cleanly and leaves the original finish intact, which helps at resale. Repainted panels are the risk: weak or poorly bonded paint can lift with the film. That's one reason Garware's warranty excludes film applied on repainted vehicles, and why we check for repaints before we start.

Do you work on electric cars?

Yes. Paint protection film and coatings go on an EV exactly as on any other car, and our Mahindra XEV 9e PPF reel is one example. A new EV's paint is just as exposed to stone chips and bird droppings. For electrical add-ons such as a dashcam, check your carmaker's warranty terms first, and we'll tell you what can be fitted cleanly.

Ceramic & graphene coating

PPF or ceramic coating: which should I choose?

Choose PPF if stone chips and scrapes worry you, and a coating if you want gloss and easy washing. Film is a thick, self-healing layer that absorbs impacts; a coating is a few microns thick and won't stop a chip. Many owners do both: film on the front or the whole car, then a coating over film and paint. Our PPF vs ceramic coating guide compares them.

How much does ceramic coating cost in Pune?

It depends mostly on the coating grade, your car's size and how much paint correction it needs. A well-kept new car needs less preparation than an older one covered in swirls. Our ceramic coating price guide lists typical Pune market ranges. For your own car, send us the model and its age on WhatsApp and we'll quote.

How long does ceramic coating last in Pune?

It depends on the grade you choose and how the car is washed and parked. The grade sets the ceiling; your habits decide how close you get. Open parking through summer, monsoon grime and brush washes wear any coating faster, while gentle hand washing and the maker's periodic checks keep it working. Or as many ask us, coating kiti varsha tikta? We'll give you the maker's figure for your grade.

9H, 10H or graphene coating: what's the real difference?

Less than the labels suggest. 9H is a pencil-hardness result: the hardest pencil lead that doesn't scratch a coated test panel. Common pencil-hardness kits run from 6B to 6H; extended kits (and ISO 15184 sets) go up to 9H. '10H' isn't a grade on the pencil scale at all, so it comes from a brand's own test. Graphene coatings add graphene to the resin, and makers claim a slicker finish and fewer water spots. None of them is scratch-proof. Our 9H vs 10H guide explains more.

How do I wash a coated car? Are automatic washes OK?

Hand wash it with a pH-neutral shampoo, a clean microfibre mitt and two buckets, one soapy and one for rinsing the mitt, then dry with a soft towel. Avoid automatic brush washes, which scrub every car with the last car's grit, and strong degreasers. If your society uses borewell or tanker water, always dry the car, because hard-water spots form even on a coating.

Does a new car need paint correction before coating?

Usually a little. New cars often arrive with light swirls and marring from transport, stockyard dust and dealer washes. A coating locks in whatever is underneath it, so we check the paint under studio light first and show you whether it needs a light polish, a deeper correction, or nothing at all.

Can I put ceramic coating on top of PPF?

Yes, with a coating made for film. A coating over PPF makes the film slicker and easier to wash, and many owners choose it. It doesn't work the other way round: film must go on bare, clean paint, and Garware's warranty excludes film laid over ceramic, Teflon or wax coatings. So the order is always film first, then coating.

Engine care

What is engine decarbonisation, and does it improve mileage?

It's a cleaning process, using hydrogen or chemical cleaners, that removes carbon deposits from the intake, valves, injectors and combustion chamber without opening up the engine. It typically takes 1–2 hours. Many owners notice smoother idle and response; results depend on engine condition, and nobody can promise a mileage gain. Or as people ask us, decarb kelyane mileage vadhto ka? Sometimes, not always.

How often should I decarbonise my car?

Only when it needs it. Most carmakers don't list decarbonisation in the routine service schedule, so treat it as a fix for symptoms such as rough idle, sluggish pickup or extra smoke that a regular service hasn't cured. Cars that crawl through city traffic and rarely see highway speeds tend to build carbon faster than ones that get regular highway runs.

Lights, electronics & accessories

Is there a plug-and-play LED fix for Tata cars?

Yes, for many Tata variants with halogen headlamps. Plug-and-play LED kits made for those housings use the factory socket, so no wiring is cut, and they give a whiter, longer throw on dark highways. The two things to get right are heat-sink clearance behind the lamp and a driver that doesn't flicker. Send us your model and year and we'll tell you whether your car suits it.

2GB or 4GB Android stereo: which should I buy?

Buy 4GB if the unit will run maps, music or a dashcam itself; a genuine 2GB unit is enough if you'll mostly use wireless CarPlay or Android Auto from your phone. For a 360° camera and heavy multitasking, 8GB stays smoother over the years. Whatever you buy, check the spec is real: owners have documented units with 1GB of RAM sold as 2GB.

Will an Android stereo or dashcam void my car's warranty?

Not automatically, but nobody can promise it won't affect anything. Your carmaker's warranty is between you and the dealer, and a dealer can question an electrical fault they trace to aftermarket wiring. Plug-in harnesses and fuse taps that leave factory wiring uncut lower that risk. Keep your original parts, and check with your dealer if the car is still under warranty.

Hardwired or plug-in dashcam? Does parking mode drain the battery?

Hardwired is the cleaner choice for a permanent install, and it's the usual way to run parking mode; a dedicated dashcam battery pack is the other. A plug-in camera runs from the 12V socket and switches off with the car. Parking mode draws a small current, so a hardwire kit needs a low-voltage cut-off set to suit your battery. Going away for a week? Switch parking mode off.

Can yellow, foggy headlights be restored instead of replaced?

Usually, yes. Yellowing and haze sit on the outer surface of the lens, so it can be sanded, polished clear and sealed with a UV-protective coat. Restoration can't fix moisture inside the lamp, a burnt or peeling reflector, or a cracked lens; if replacement is the honest answer, we'll say so. A sealed lens lasts far longer than a polish-only job in Pune's summer sun.

Fabric or leatherette seat covers: which suits Pune?

Fabric breathes and stays cooler in summer; leatherette wipes clean and suits families, pets and dusty commutes, but it heats up in a car parked in the sun. Whichever you choose, if your seats have side airbags, the covers must be made for them, with seams that let the airbag deploy. Tell us your car model and variant and we'll show you what fits.

Booking & visiting

How do I book: WhatsApp, call or walk in?

Any of the three works, and WhatsApp is easiest because you can send photos. Send your car's model and year, what you'd like done and a couple of pictures, and we'll reply with a quote and a date. You can also call us, or walk in to the PinkStudio in Mangalwar Peth. Message us on WhatsApp for today's timings before you set off.

Coming from Hinjewadi, Wakad or PCMC?

Driving in from the PCMC side typically takes 40–90 minutes, depending on traffic. For longer jobs you can head home by metro: the Aqua Line stops at Mangalwar Peth, and the District Court interchange connects to the Purple Line towards Pimpri.

Who gives the warranty on PPF and coatings?

The manufacturer does, and the term depends on the grade you choose. For example, Garware publishes 5 years for its Plus film and 8 years for Premium, both non-transferable and both needing maintenance every six months. Before we start, we walk you through the maker's terms for the grade you pick. Our warranty and aftercare page covers what voids a warranty and how to avoid it. Garware's warranty cards apply when the film is fitted by an authorised installer and registered against the roll number; ask us for the registration details before you book.
