Where does a Thar take damage first?
The Thar is boxy and upright. That is the whole appeal, and it is also hard on paint. The bonnet sits almost flat, so a stone thrown up by a truck on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway hits it square-on instead of glancing off. The windscreen is upright too, which makes the painted frame around it a target.
The wide arch flares change where damage goes. The tyres sit just below the fenders and throw gravel and wet mud at the painted edge beside each flare. The lower doors get sand-blasted on trails, and the high step means shoes catch the sills every time someone climbs in.
Much of a Thar’s nose and all of its arch flares are textured or dual-tone plastic, not paint. Film adds little there, so the budget goes on the painted panels that actually chip. If your year and trim has a body-coloured grille, we’ll point it out.
Partial PPF, full PPF or ceramic: what suits your Thar?
| Option | What it covers | Best for | Typical studio time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Partial PPF + full ceramic | Film on the bonnet, front fenders, windscreen frame and lower doors; ceramic on everything else | City and highway Thars with the odd weekend trail | 2–3 days |
| Full-body PPF | Film on every painted panel | A new Thar you plan to keep, or regular trail use where bushes scrape the sides | 3–5 working days |
| Full-body matte PPF | Satin look over all the paint, plus impact protection | Owners who want a stealth finish without a repaint | 3–5 working days |
| Ceramic coating only | Gloss, water beading, easier mud wash. No chip protection | City Thars that rarely leave tarmac | 1–3 days |
We confirm the exact time when you book. The warranty depends on the film or coating grade you choose, and we explain the manufacturer’s terms before we start. Our warranty page sets out Garware’s published terms.

Mods and LED lamps, kept road-appropriate
A Thar practically asks to be personalised. Our Instagram has a black Thar Roxx we customised, round LED headlamps and all; the reel is linked on this page.
We fit body kits and modifications that are bolt-on and reversible, with no change to the RC particulars. Before anything goes on, we’ll tell you upfront what’s road-legal and what isn’t.
Lighting is the other common request. Every 3-door Thar from 2020 until the Thar OG arrived in September 2026 left the factory with round halogen headlamps, and Mahindra lists the Thar OG’s new LED headlamps only on its top ZXT trim. An LED upgrade brightens the road ahead. We fit it for a correctly aimed, road-appropriate white beam with no blinding colours, so oncoming drivers aren’t dazzled, and we check the headlamp aim after fitting.
How we handle a Thar at the PinkStudio
Trail mud hides in panel seams and behind the flares, so the wash and decontamination take longer than on a city car. Film edges need clean surfaces to stick.
Next, we inspect the paint under the PinkStudio’s lights. That shows existing chips and swirl marks, so you know what the film will be sealing in before we start.
Then the film is laid panel by panel, edges are finished, and the car cures indoors. Garware’s care instructions say new film shouldn’t be washed for at least 48 hours. At handover we also show you how to rinse after an off-road day without grinding grit into the film or aiming a pressure washer at its edges.
Ready to book?
Send us your Thar’s year and colour on WhatsApp, tell us whether it’s a 3-door or the Roxx, and add a photo of the bonnet. Tell us how you use it: city, highway or trails. We’ll suggest the coverage and send you a quote.
