Toyota Fortuner PPF & Ceramic Coating in Pune

A Toyota Fortuner spends much of its life on highways, so stone chips land on the big bonnet, the front bumper, the mirrors and the lower doors. Full-body PPF suits a new Fortuner or Legender; front PPF with full ceramic and a windshield coating suits most others. Ceramic coating typically takes 1–3 days at our PinkStudio in Mangalwar Peth, Pune.

Where it needs protection

  1. 1

    Bonnet

The biggest painted panel at the front, so it collects the most stone strikes on long highway runs.

  2. 2

    Front bumper

Low and wide, it takes road grit at speed. The Legender's split grille and different bumper need their own film shapes.

  3. 3

    Front fenders and wheel arches

Gravel thrown by the front tyres chips the paint around the arches.

  4. 4

    Mirror caps (ORVMs)

Wide-set and high, they catch branches on ghat roads and pillars in parking.

  5. 5

    Door edges

Heavy doors swing wide, and in tight Pune parking their edges find walls and other cars.

  6. 6

Lower doors above the side steps

Grit flicked up by the front tyres and shoes on the side steps scuff the lower door paint.

  7. 7

    Rear bumper top

Luggage and outstation bags slide across it on every long trip.

  8. 8

    Windshield (coating, not film)

A water-repellent coating helps rain clear at highway speed in monsoon ghat driving.

Why does a Fortuner need different protection from a city SUV?

Most Fortuners earn their keep on the highway: the Mumbai–Pune Expressway, outstation family trips, and Konkan runs through the ghats. At those speeds a stone off a truck’s tyre doesn’t scratch the paint, it leaves a crater. And a Fortuner has a lot of frontal area for stones to find. The bonnet is large and the bumper is wide.

So the priority on a Fortuner is impact protection on the front, more than gloss. That’s where PPF earns its place. Then come the size-related marks. Heavy doors swing wide in tight parking, and the side steps that help everyone climb in also mean shoes scuff the lower doors.

We confirm the exact time when you book. If you’re weighing film against coating, PPF vs ceramic coating sets out the trade-offs.

The warranty depends on the film or coating grade you choose. Before we start, we take you through the manufacturer’s terms, and our warranty page lists Garware’s published ones.

What we’ve done on Fortuners

Two of our reels are Fortuners. One is a ceramic coating job in the PinkStudio that shows off the hydrophobic, water-repelling finish. The other is a handover to a customer from Raigad. Both are linked on this page.

On a Fortuner, the paint inspection matters. A white Fortuner hides swirls until the light hits it at an angle. A black one shows every wash mark. We check the paint under the studio lights, polish where it needs it, and only then lay film or coating. That way they seal in a clean finish, not old marks.

Windshield, headlamps and engine

A windshield coating is a small add-on that fits neatly into a coating or PPF visit. On older Fortuners, the same page covers hazy headlamp lenses and kerbed alloys, which can often be restored rather than replaced.

For a high-kilometre diesel, engine decarbonisation is worth discussing. Many owners notice smoother idle and response, but results depend on engine condition.

Looking after a protected Fortuner after a long trip

Night drives on the highway leave insects baked onto the bumper and bonnet. Left in the summer sun, they can etch unprotected paint. On film or coating they lift off far more easily, but don’t leave them for days. After a monsoon run, rinse the road grime off the lower doors and arches before you wipe anything, so you aren’t dragging grit across the finish. At handover we tell you when the first wash is safe.

Frequently asked

Should I choose full-body PPF or ceramic coating for my Fortuner?

It depends on how you drive. A Fortuner that does long highway runs takes real stone strikes, and only PPF absorbs those. Full-body PPF suits a new car you plan to keep. If your budget is tighter, PPF on the bonnet, bumper, fenders and mirrors with ceramic coating on the rest covers the worst of it. Ceramic alone gives gloss and easy washing but won't stop chips.

Does a windshield coating help on the expressway?

It makes rain bead and run off the glass faster at speed, which many drivers find useful in the monsoon on the ghats. It doesn't replace good wiper blades, and it doesn't make the glass chip-proof. We offer it as an add-on with coating or PPF work.

My Fortuner is black. Will ceramic coating hide swirl marks?

Coating doesn't hide swirls; polishing removes them. We polish the paint first, then coat it, so the coating seals a clean finish. After that, the coated surface releases dirt easily, so washing leaves fewer new marks. One caution: the 9H or 10H on a coating label is a pencil-hardness score used in marketing. Coated black paint still scratches if it's wiped dry or put through a brush wash.

Is engine decarbonisation useful on a Fortuner diesel?

On a high-kilometre Fortuner it's worth discussing. Many owners notice smoother idle and response afterwards, but results depend on engine condition, and we don't promise mileage gains.

Can you fit a body kit on my Fortuner?

We fit parts that are bolt-on and reversible, with no change to the RC particulars, and we'll tell you upfront what's road-legal. The Supreme Court in Regional Transport Officer v. K. Jayachandra (2019) read Section 52 of the Motor Vehicles Act as barring alterations to the manufacturer's original specifications, so we stay away from changes that alter those.

How long will my Fortuner be at the studio?

Ceramic coating typically takes 1–3 days depending on how much polishing the paint needs. Front PPF typically takes 1–2 days, and full-body PPF 3–5 working days including curing, toward the longer end on a Fortuner. We confirm the exact time when you book.
